iPod: Should I eliminate duplicate mp3s to save space?
I bought a guide book that says once I have populated my iTunes library with my mp3s I will now have the same tune twice: in its original place (under Explorer in Windows, e.g “My Music” folder) and now in iTunes. If that is correct, why not delete them from the My Music folder to free up additional space?
Second Q: if I want to back up my iTunes library to an external drive, how do I do that?
I am basically trying to devise a way to be efficient with my collection. I hate the thought that my hard drive now has the same files twice but in different locations.
Maybe I need to ask the Q differently. I know how to find my mp3 collection using Windows Explorer. But my iPod book says once I load the iTunes library it copies them again. How do I navigate to see those new duplicates?
1. it does copy them to the itunes folder so you can delete the copies in the my music folder to save space on your COMPUTER, the my music copies never go to the ipod so they wont affect the space on your ipod
2. just copy the itunes music folder to the external drive
